Disappointment for Blackburn Millionaire Raffle player
A somewhat sad end to a lottery story that circulated earlier this week.
In response to The National Lottery searching for four unclaimed £1 million prize winning tickets from the November 12 Millionaire Raffle draw, 77-year-old Bernard McHugh from Whitebirk, Blackburn, thought he had one of the winning tickets in question.
Instead of phoning the National Lottery to claim the prize, Bernard did what he thought was the done thing, signing the back of the ticket and posting it to the lottery headquarters. The mail centre was placed on alert, with everyone keen to have Bernard duly receive his rightful prize.
But, as it turns out, it was all something of a false alarm. The Lancashire Telegraph has reported that Bernard's posted ticket was for the November 19 draw rather than November 12.
While that's sad news for Bernard, it's good news for someone else in and around Blackburn, as there definitely remains a ticket purchased in the area that has indeed won £1 million.
