Supermarket Staff Sweep up Lotto Prize
Christmas has come early to supermarket staff with a £150k lottery win.
The aisles are alive with celebrations at the Tesco Express in Oldfield Road, North Chelm after 8 staff members took home £18,000.00 when their syndicate scooped up just over £143,000.00 in the National Lottery.
The Lotto draw took place on Saturday December 10th and there were screams of joy from all involved when they discovered their amazing win.
Some of the staff members in the syndicate have been working at the Tesco Express store since it first opened in 1997.
They group have been playing in every Saturday Lotto draw for 5 years with no success. But this time their luck had finally change and they got the lottery results they were after.
Debbie Humphries, one of the lucky winners tells us that she screamed with complete excitement when she received the phone call at home on the day of the Lotto draw.
She said: "I was just having some friends round for dinner when Dave called me and asked me to check the numbers as he thought we had won. I just screamed."
"The atmosphere in the shop since Saturday has been amazing."
The syndicate leader has also revealed that not at any point in time did he think to do a runner with the winning ticket.
He said: "They would have killed me if I had run off with it or lost it. It didn't feel real until the woman from the lottery came round and said the ticket was the right one. Until then I just thought it was a giant hoax."
The winning numbers for the Saturday night Lotto draw were 1, 22, 35, 39, 42 and 48 with the supplementary number 12.
